VP of Engineering and Chief Architect Bryan Tracey Also Elected Co-Chair of EPCglobal Software Action Group; To Speak at U.S. Conference in Los Angeles
RICHARDSON, Texas--GlobeRanger, the leading provider of RFID edge software, mobility and sensor-based applications for both enterprise and government customers, today announced that their iMotion Edgeware™ platform has achieved EPCglobal’s Application Level Events (ALE) 1.0 certification. A Microsoft.Net-based RFID software solution, iMotion layers the infrastructure that resides between the data-collection devices on the edge and back-end systems to manage devices, networks data and processes in real-time.
“We’re very pleased to receive this prestigious recognition, which will better enable both our current and prospective customers to more confidently purchase our products and services that already met or exceeded stringent EPCglobal certification standards,” said Bryan Tracey, vice president of engineering and chief architect for GlobeRanger, who accepted the certification today at the EPCglobal U.S. conference in Los Angeles.
The goal of EPCglobal’s Certification and Accreditation Program is to establish a neutral source to provide global certification and accreditation, and information about EPC-compliant vendors and products. GlobeRanger was awarded this certification after passing all of the required as well as all of the optional tests offered.
To receive the software certification mark, iMotion 5.2 had to pass rigorous testing conducted by MET Laboratories, a third-party, nationally-recognized testing facility located in Baltimore, Maryland in the United States. The mark is a stylized form of the EPCglobal logo and includes an 18-digit Global Service Relation Number (GSRN) that is globally unique to that specific software product.
A listing of certified software products, vendor profiles, and other resources are available at www.EPCglobalinc.org.
“By choosing software with an EPCglobal Software Compliance Certification Mark, the end-user can be confident that the software will perform according to defined EPCglobal standards,” said Chris Adcock, president of EPCglobal Inc. “With this information readily available, they will have more time to focus their resources on completing pilots and capturing information.”
EPCglobal Inc is the not-for-profit standards organization dedicated to driving global adoption of the Electronic Product Code™ (EPC) for supply chain excellence.
In related news, Tracey was elected in May 2006 to a one-year term as co-chair of EPCglobal’s Software Action Group (SAG), a position in which he provides a leadership role for the multiple Working Groups inside of the SAG and participates within both the Technical and Joint Planning Steering Committees. On October 19 at 8:30 a.m. at the Los Angeles Convention Center, he will participate in an EPCglobal U.S. Conference panel discussion on “EPCIS Implementation.”
The EPCglobal certification coincides with the general availability of GlobeRanger’s iMotion version 5.2. This release extends the iMotion platform for greater scalability, usability and reliability in large-scale production environments. Enhancements include improved license management, usability improvements in the administrative and developer applications, and new capabilities for both workflow and custom workflow component developers.
