NEC Corporation of America Receives Highest Validation Level Afforded to C-TPAT Members in Supply Chain Security
Only one of 241 United States Companies to Receive Tier Three C-TPAT Validation Status
IRVING, Texas--NEC Corporation of America, a leading technology provider of network, IT and identity management solutions, announced today Custom-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT) validation from the United States Department of Homeland Security, Bureau of Customs and Border Protection (CBP). By demonstrating effective security measures that exceed minimum security standards through the company’s physical supply chain, internal supply chain management and business supply chain partnerships, NEC has received Tier Three status, C-TPAT’s highest supply chain validation level granted to importers.
The purpose of C-TPAT is to enhance and ensure supply chain security in the United States through a government-industry partnership. C-TPAT member companies are required to develop an internal validation process to ensure the existence of security measures as documented by CBP. The validation process is essential to verifying a company’s commitment to C-TPAT and the program’s criteria of effectively utilizing people, processes and technology in support of supply chain security. Companies able to exceed C-TPAT’s security requirements receive faster customs clearance and less intensive examination on import shipments.
“Security best practices are an integral part of NEC’s corporate culture. This commitment extends to our supply chain as evident by the checks and balances and oversight that exists across every aspect of the operation,” said Joseph De La Luz, General Manager of Trade Compliance, NEC Corporation of America. “Being one of only 241 companies in the United States to be granted Tier Three C-TPAT status is a testament to NEC’s dedication to safe and secure business operations and efficient supply chain management.”
