Manufacturer Live Awards Recognize Best Practices in US Manufacturing
Submissions Close August 15th for Seven Categories and ''Manufacturer of the Year''
Manufacturer LIVE 2006 Symposium
BOSTON--Aug. 2, 2006--Conquest Business Media (CBM), publishers of The Manufacturer and Energy Business, announced today it will be accepting entries in all eight categories for The Manufacturer LIVE 2006 Awards through August 15, 2006. The awards will be presented at a black tie gala hosted by CBS2-Chicago news anchor and correspondent, Suzanne Le Mignot at The Manufacturer LIVE 2006 Symposium the evening of October 4, 2006 at the Sheraton Chicago Hotel & Towers.

"The content of the first US Manufacturer LIVE is based upon CBM's seven pillars of manufacturing, so it seemed appropriate to base the awards upon the pillars as well," said Bruce Goldweitz, US General Manager, Conquest Business Media. "The awards recognize best practices in Leadership and Strategy, Design and Innovation, World Class Manufacturing, Skills and Human Resources, IT in manufacturing, Logistics and Supply Chain and Manufacturing Operations. An overall Manufacturer of the Year will be awarded for general excellence in all of the above," he added.

CBM is a UK-based company, and the UK "Manufacturer Awards" are generally considered the "Oscars of Manufacturing." The Awards have run five years straight, with last year's Manufacturer of the Year being Unilever Ice Cream and Frozen Food.

Judges for the US debut include media professionals, academics and industry experts, including: Jim Kirk, Business Editor, The Chicago Tribune; Bill Stetar, University of Tennessee Human Performance Technology Centre; Dr. Yossi Sheffi, Center for Transportation & Logistics, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT); Nigel Holloway, Director, The Economist Intelligence Unit; and Ken Hurst, Publisher, Conquest Business Media.

Entries are accepted online at The Manufacturer Live web site at www.themanufacturer.com/US/live.
