CMTC Wins Award from San Diego Supplier Development Council

TORRANCE, Calif.--California Manufacturing Technology Consulting has won a coveted award from the San Diego Supplier Development Council for being the regions Best Small Business Support Organization in 2007.

The councils mission is to promote economic diversity by connecting San Diegos small, disadvantaged businesses with government programs and local corporations as well as promoting educational forums and networking opportunities.

The award was given to CMTCs Small Manufacturers Advantage program, which since 2004 has provided low-cost personalized assistance to about 1,000 small manufacturers throughout Southern California. The SMA program helps small businesses save costs and improve the quality of their work by providing technical assistance in many areas including lean manufacturing, marketing, quality management, plant layout, executive coaching, and teamwork. CMTC has strategic partnerships with many cities, including Anaheim, Chino and Corona, who get the word out about the SMA program. The economic development departments of Riverside and San Bernardino Counties also alert businesses to the benefits of working with CMTCs small business consultants.

Gunnar Schalin, president of the San Diego Supplier Development Council, said that he nominated CMTCs program for the honor because of its strong track record of success and service.

With them, not only are the technical aspects covered, these are good people to work with, Schalin said this week. They build relationships and they work them and they have the best interest of the client in mind.

Lorri Aiello, manager of the SMA program, was thrilled about the recognition, which was awarded on November 13, 2007. Cities want their businesses to be successful, said Aiello. We are helping businesses stay healthy and grow.
