DALLAS--Sept. 19, 2006--i2 Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq:ITWO), today announced that Matthew Elson has been named senior vice president of the company's Agile Business Process Platform Technologies Group. In this role, Elson will focus on promoting and growing the use of i2's platform technology outside of i2, including i2's Master Data Management (MDM) and other service-oriented architecture (SOA) technologies. His responsibilities include promoting and licensing i2's Agile Business Process Platform technologies to other software companies, independent software vendors, and software developers through OEM licenses, resale and partnerships.
i2's Agile Business Process Platform features a unique service-oriented architecture (SOA) that includes a layer of technology services, business process workflow engine and extensive master data management capabilities. The platform is business process management (BPM) compliant and interoperates with legacy, ERP and other enterprise architectures.
Elson has several years of experience developing and executing enterprise software sales strategies by leveraging OEM and channel ecosystems. He joins i2 from Borland Software Corporation where he was vice president of Worldwide Server Software Sales. At Borland, Elson re-built the company's server software license business through the successful implementation of an indirect sales ecosystem strategy. During his tenure, the Borland server software product line grew to represent more than one-third of Borland's total license revenue.
Prior to joining Borland, Elson worked for WebGain, a BEA Systems spin-off in the Java tools market, as the company's vice president of Product Line Sales. There he grew and managed the company's TopLink product line by focusing on OEM and channel partners. He then oversaw the company's divestiture of TopLink to Oracle Corporation's application server business unit.
Before his tenure at WebGain, Elson worked at OasisTechnology, a financial services enterprise middleware company, as the company's vice president of Channels in North America. There he launched the company's North American sales efforts by securing OEM and channel relationships with companies such as IBM, Compaq, and Sun Microsystems. He began his career in enterprise software at BEA Systems where he founded the company's Financial Services industry group. As director of BEA's Financials Services industry vertical, he was responsible for launching BEA's sales, marketing and channel development programs into financial markets worldwide. Elson began his career in investment banking at Kidder, Peabody & Co. He holds his Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature from UCLA.
